Due to the pressures within the palliative and end of life system (PEOL) providers of palliative care services across Lincolnshire have reviewed capacity and demand and a contingency plan has been agreed.
An alternative way of delivering the specialist palliative care advice and guidance to professionals has been identified, which will increase the capacity of the LCHS Macmillan Community Clinical Nurse Specialists to support the system in the most effective way. In line with the contingency plan the Macmillan team will not be providing the weekend advice and guidance for the next few weeks in order to be able to act as trusted assessors on the palliative SPA for urgent unplanned needs.
From 4th September access to professional advice and guidance for palliative and end of life care at weekends and bank holidays will be via the St Barnabas 24/7 Professional Advice and Guidance number. Telephone: 0300 303 1754
From 4th September you should no longer use the Macmillan weekend phone line but should contact St Barnabas on the number above until plans are reviewed again.
Please contact the Palliative Care Cell inbox if you have any queries.
