Childcare Survey January 2021

Note from National Colleagues

Dear Colleagues

This Childcare Survey January 2021 is for the parents/carers of children across our NHS workforce. It has been developed by the Department for Education (DfE), together with the COVID-19 Childcare Workstream within the People Directorate at NHS England and NHS Improvement, to gather information about childcare provision since the latest national lockdown, and the impact that has had, as well as looking ahead to February half-term.

All insight is anonymous (unless staff choose to share details to escalate issues) and will be shared with DfE colleagues to influence and inform their planning and design of their guidance. It will also be made available to NHS England and NHS Improvement regional colleagues working to support our staff.

The intention is to have as many responses as possible over the coming week (up to the 27 January). Survey responses received after that time will still be valuable, but by having them earlier, the insight will be better timed to influence policy decisions and support.

This short survey will take about 5 minutes to complete. We understand the pressures on the service currently, and the potential for survey fatigue, as well as the need to reach staff currently absent from the workplace due to planned or unplanned leave. As such, in addition to seeking your support to cascade this survey, we will also progress other opportunities to reach our staff, e.g. targeted bulletins. You may wish to replicate this approach in your region.

Thank you for your support
