In an effort to encourage more people in Lincoln to ‘get boosted’, a series of ‘pop-up’ covid walk-in sessions will be held in the city over the next two days on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
On Wednesday 22nd December, there will be a team offering walk-in vaccinations, including boosters and first and second doses, at the Engine Shed between 9.30am and 2pm.
Walk-in vaccinations will also be available on Wednesday at the Minster Medical Practice, between 9am-11.15am and 2pm-4pm.
On Thursday 23rd December, Minster Medical Practice will once again be offering walk-ins, between 8.30am-11.30am and 2pm-4pm. And Portland Medical Practice will also offer walk-ins on Thursday, between 1pm-4pm.
“We have put these pop-up walk-in sessions on to enable more people in Lincoln to get vaccinated in the city. They will be available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and offer a way to get vaccinated without having to travel out of Lincoln,” comments Rebecca Neno, Director of Covid and Influenza Vaccination Programmes, NHS Lincolnshire CCG.
“I would strongly urge anyone who is eligible – 18 and over for a booster (16 and over with underlying conditions) – and hasn’t yet had a booster, or perhaps even a first or second dose, to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Please don’t put it off, Omicron is spreading rapidly and getting ‘boosted’ is our best protection against it.”
One of the county’s two Mass Vaccination Centres is located at the Lincolnshire Showground, and is also offering boosters to people aged 18 and over on a walk-in basis or by booking an appointment via the National Booking System or by calling 119.
“We do understand that not everyone can easily get up to the Showground, hence the pop-up walk-in sessions at the Engine Shed, Minster Medical Practice, and Portland Medical Practice.
“In addition, we have also worked with our partners at Lincolnshire County Council to offer a free bus service to and from the Showground, every day between now and 31st December, which leaves on the hour and every half hour from the Lincoln Hotel, BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Broadway, Thonock Close, and Ruckland Avenue,” adds Rebecca.
